H.E. Ambassador Lukman Faily meets with Iraqi Community in California

Ambassador Faily held three events in California where he met with leaders from the Iraqi community for open dialogue and conversation.

As part of an Embassy program to reach out to various Iraqi communities across the United States, Ambassador Lukman Faily welcomed a number of Iraqi community leaders in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, California. The three events took place on August 26 – 28th, 2013 with representation from the Consulate General in Los Angeles and the Iraqi Commercial Attaché in Washington, DC, Mr. Naufel Alhassan.

The Ambassador briefed the Iraqi community leaders on the recent political situation and challenges facing Iraq, as well as the Iraq-U.S. relationship. Ambassador Faily also discussed many of the issues of concern to the community and addressed how they can positively interact with their homeland and with each other in the United States.

The Ambassador expressed his pride in the Iraqi community, stressing the importance of their constructive role in the United States, where opportunities are available for them to positively contribute to society and its role in re-building Iraq.
