Ambassador and Mrs. Faily Welcome Iraqi Community in DC to Newroz Event

Ambassador Faily delivered remarks, congratulating the Iraqi people on the occasion of Newroz, calling for unity and peaceful co-existence.

On Sunday, March 30, 2014, Ambassador Faily and Mrs. Faily welcomed the Iraqi community in Washington, DC to a Newroz event.

Ambassador Faily delivered remarks, congratulating the Iraqi people, particularly the Kurds on the occasion of Spring Festival, “Newroz.” Mr. Faily called for unity and peaceful co-existence; further stressing the need for significant participation in the upcoming elections to uphold the sustainability of the democratic process in Iraq.

Ambassador Faily also praised the constructive role of the community, noting that the Embassy will continue its support to all Iraqis in the United States, without political partisanship or religious bias.

More than 500 people attended the event hosted by the Embassy in Washington, DC. Those in attendance included representatives of various Iraqi ethnic groups, politicians, and media.
