Iraqi Delegation Attends Soft Launch of ISTIR System

A delegation from Iraq’s Ministry of Science and Technology is in Washington, DC to attend the soft launch of the Iraq Science and Technology Information Repository, developed in partnership with the US Department of Commerce.

A delegation from Iraq’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), headed by Deputy Minister Dr. Samir Raouf, attended an event in Washington, DC on August 21, 2014 for the soft launch of the Iraq Science and Technology Information Repository (ISTIR), organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) and National Technical and Information Service (NTIS), and Information International Associates (IIA).

ISTIR is part of MoST’s strategy to strengthen the Iraq business environment, foster innovation, expand trade, and spur economic development. ISTIR is collections of scientific and technical data including documents, presentations, maps and other content representing the mission and work of Iraqi science ministries.

Ambassador Faily delivered opening remarks, in which he discussed the transition of information sharing that has occurred in Iraq as well as effective use of Information Technology within the scope of project management. The Ambassador also spoke about the methodologies required to gather specific data to support technological enhancements among various ministries in Iraq.

The event was hosted by the Iraqi Cultural Center in Washington, DC and funded by the US Department of State.
