On May 9, 2015, Ambassador Faily and his family, and Embassy staff joined former US Ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey, Gold Star Mother Kelly Swanson, veterans of the Iraq war, members of the Iraqi-American community, students and other distinguished guests for a run to benefit Iraq’s most vulnerable children.
The Iraqi Children Foundation held their third annual “In Their Shoes” 5k run which brought together people from different backgrounds to run/walk for a day “in the shoes” of Iraq’s orphans, street children, and those fleeing with their families from ISIS.
One hundred percent of donations and funds raised go directly to help Iraqi children through tutoring, food, health care, trauma support, and other loving services.
