Iraqi Students Participating in US State Department Program Visit Embassy of Iraq in Washington, DC

Students were part of the Dialogue Institute program, “Study of the U.S. Institute on Religious Pluralism.” Students met with staff and learned more about the Embassy’s role in the U.S.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, DC welcomed, on July 25, 2013, several Iraqi students at the Embassy. Students had the opportunity to meet with staff and get a better understanding of the role of the Iraqi Embassy within the United States.

The visiting students were part of a program sponsored by the U.S. State Department, through its Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, “Study of the U.S. Institute on Religious Pluralism.” The program is offered to students of diverse cultural backgrounds and includes classroom sessions, workshops and site visits, lessons about U.S. history, democracy and society with a special focus on religious pluralism and interfaith dialogue.

The goal of the program is for students to return to Iraq with knowledge that will help foster tolerance and religious recognition.
