Coinciding with efforts to revive its travel industry and lure tourists, Iraq plans to construct a new central airport with a capacity of 20 million passengers a year. Iraq will also continue fleet expansion and revamping of its civil aviation infrastructure.

Travelport, a global travel industry services provider headquartered in the United States, recently cemented its presence in Iraq with the opening of a new Erbil office.
The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff welcomed Foreign Minister Zebari and Ambassador Faily to the Pentagon in Washington, DC for discussions on military and security cooperation between Iraq and the U.S.
His Excellency Hoshyar Zebari participated in a Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Statesmen’s Forum, “A View from Iraq and the Region,” where he shared his views about critical international issues as they relate to Iraq’s role within the Middle East and around the world.

Foreign Minister Zebari, who is visiting Washington this week, attended the (SFA) Joint Coordination Committee for Diplomatic and Political Affairs meeting at the U.S. State Department. The meeting was co-chaired by Minister Zebari and Elizabeth Jones, Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs.
