Coinciding with efforts to revive its travel industry and lure tourists, Iraq plans to construct a new central airport with a capacity of 20 million passengers a year. Iraq will also continue fleet expansion and revamping of its civil aviation infrastructure.
The new colleges and departments at Baghdad University will facilitate higher education in Iraq, and include programs in environmental studies, genetic engineering and various branches of the humanities.
The Oil Ministry reports that Iraq generated 6.9 percent more from crude sales in July, compared with the previous month.
The conference, hosted by the U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce, took place August 20-22, 2013 at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island and included leaders from the corporate community and others interested in promoting economic relationships between Arab countries and the United States.

The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff welcomed Foreign Minister Zebari and Ambassador Faily to the Pentagon in Washington, DC for discussions on military and security cooperation between Iraq and the U.S.

Foreign Minister Zebari, who is visiting Washington this week, attended the (SFA) Joint Coordination Committee for Diplomatic and Political Affairs meeting at the U.S. State Department. The meeting was co-chaired by Minister Zebari and Elizabeth Jones, Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs.
The delivery reflects modernization of Iraq’s commercial aviation system and is an important milestone in Boeing’s efforts to help rebuild Iraq’s aviation infrastructure.
