Foreign Minister Heads the Iraqi Delegation to the Arab League Ministerial Meeting
Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari headed the Iraqi Delegation to the Arab League Ministerial Meeting to discuss developments of the Syrian crisis and follow-up on international efforts to find a political and peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis.
Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the ministerial meeting of the Council of the Arab League on Wednesday evening June 5, 2013 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo, to discuss the developments of the Syrian crisis and follow-up on the international efforts for the success of the International Conference to be held in Geneva in order to find political and peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis and spare the Syrian people the ravages of war and destruction.
The Minister stressed that Iraq, since the early days warned of the dangers of this crisis and its consequences on the region and warned of sectarianism as it poses danger to people. Iraq proposed to the Council inviting scholars, clerics and politicians of different orientations for an immediate cessation of the sectarian strife and what it raises of conflicts and bloody seditions that could effect the entire region.
The Council passed a resolution emphasizing the support of international efforts to ensure the success of the Geneva Conference 2 in order to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
