إلتقى السفير نزار الخيرالله مساعدة وزير الخارجية لشؤون الشرق الأدنى السيدة باربرا ليف في مقر وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية في 14 تموز الجاري، وناقش الجانبان موضوعات عدة لبحث آفاق تطوير العلاقات السياسية، والاقتصادية، والثقافية بين البلدين، ودعم بناء الثقة، وتعزيز الشراكات الاقتصادية، والتعاون في مجالات عديدة. وأوضح السفير الخيرالله أولويات الحكومة العراقية في مشاريع استثمار الغاز المصاحب والشراكات مع الدول لتحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي للعراق من الغاز خلال السنوات المقبلة.
وبدورها أشادت ليف بجهود الحكومة العراقية وجديتها في تحقيق استقلال الطاقة والاستثمار في الغاز من خلال الاتفاق الأخير مع شركة توتال أنرجيز، ودول الخليج لتحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي في إنتاج الطاقة الكهربائية خلال الفترة المقبلة. كما أشادت السيدة ليف بجهود الحكومة العراقية في الربط الكهربائي مع دول الخليج والأردن، الأمر الذي من شأنه زيادة إنتاج الطاقة الكهربائية لتلبية احتياجات العراق.
واتفق الجانبان على عقد اجتماعات مستقبلية لمتابعة التعاون فيما تقدم.
Ambassador Al Khirullah Meets with Ms. Barbara Leaf
Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah met with Ms. Barbara Leaf, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, at the State Department headquarters on July 14 when they discussed several topics to explore prospects for developing political, economic and cultural relations between both countries; supporting building of confidence; strengthening economic partnerships; and boosting cooperation in various domains. Amb. Al Khirullah explained priorities of the Iraqi government regarding associated gas investment projects and partnerships with countries to achieve self-sufficiency for Iraq in gas sector during the coming years.
In her turn, Ms. Leaf praised the serious efforts of the Iraqi government towards achieving energy independence and gas investment through a recent agreement with TotalEnergies and the Gulf countries to materialize self-sufficiency in electricity production during the coming period. Ms. Leaf also commended the Iraqi government’s efforts in connecting electricity with the Gulf countries and Jordan, which would increase the production of electric energy to meet the needs of Iraq.
The two sides agreed to hold future meetings to follow up cooperation in the topics mentioned above. …
