Opening a New Era in U.S.-Iraq Relations

Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Lukman Faily penned an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal to discuss the framework for a new economic partnership with the United States, reflect on the progress Iraq has made as a country, and thank the American people for their sacrifice.

Iraq’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United States, Lukman Faily penned an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal on July 3, 2013 to discuss the future economic relationship between the United States and Iraq.

Ambassador Faily reflected on the progress that Iraq has made as a country and expressed gratitude towards the American people for their sacrifices in setting Iraq on the path toward democracy and ending Saddam’s rule.

The Ambassador writes that the future should begin with the full implementation of the Strategic Framework Agreement, which will open the door to increased political, security, and economic cooperation between the U.S. and Iraq.

Iraq looks forward to partnering with the U.S. government, businesses and strategic interests in the region as our countries continue to build a strong economic relationship.
