Foreign Minister Zebari Discusses Iraqi-U.S. Relations with American Ambassador to Iraq

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met with Ambassador Beecroft days before the Foreign Minister’s trip to the U.S., where he will continue bilateral discussions and implementation of the Strategic Framework Agreement.

On August 11, 2013, Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met with Mr. Robert Stephen Beecroft, the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad. The meeting took place just days before the Foreign Minister’s visit to the United States.

At the forefront of their conversation was the Iraqi-U.S. Joint Coordination Committee for Diplomatic and Political Affairs meeting, to be held in Washington this week; the committee stems from the Strategic Framework Agreement.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Zebari and Ambassador Beecroft discussed the political and security situation in Iraq and the importance of addressing terrorist operations. Further, they spoke about the regional situation and its repercussions on the country and the region.
