Ambassador Faily sat down with Iraq Oil Report’s Ben Van Heuvelen to discuss the current situation in Iraq and the region, as well as highlight the steadfast relationship between Iraq and the United States on various fronts.
Ambassador Faily stressed the importance of the US-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA), which was put into place to guide the bilateral relationship between the two countries. Mr. Faily said he set himself an ambitious, longer-term task as ambassador: to make sure the SFA actually produces concrete actions whose effects can be felt by average Iraqis.
Ambassador Faily discussed the stepped-up military and intelligence cooperation between the United States and Iraq, noting that the Iraqi relationship with the US is at a critical juncture.
