Shell Opens Iraqi Oil Field
Marking a milestone for both Iraq and Shell, the oil company recently inaugurated the Majnoon oil field.
Royal Dutch Shell officially opened Iraq’s Majnoon oil field, with a goal of 175,000 barrels a day in the coming weeks and marking a big milestone for both Shell and Iraq.
Majnoon, located in southern Iraq near the city of Basra, is one of four major fields that Iraq is developing with foreign companies. It is vital to Iraq’s ambitious plan to increase output to at least 6 million barrels per day from the current production level of 3.2 million.
Shell said it has now opened the field’s other wells and officially inaugurated the Majnoon field last weekend.
